Aldbourne Heritage Centre

On 8th and 9th June 2013 villages came together for a Big Dig. We worked with Wyvern Historical Society and Wessex Archaeology. The area dug was the football pitch and Palmers field.

During the dig Wyvern used their metal detectors to find objects, Wessex recorded the locations of historically significant finds, and the villagers cleaned and bagged the finds.

This dig led to the formation of the ACHG, the modern coinage found on the pitch paying for the hall hire for the initial meeting.

Some of the finds are now on display in the Heritage Centre. Below are just a small sample of what was found.
